9) Legacy of Liberty
For Our Children and Future Generations
“Power is not alluring to pure minds.”
“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all.”
“Liberty is the great parent of science and of virtue; and a nation will be great in both in proportion as it is free.”
A) One of Thomas Jefferson’s legacies is his personal library creating our Library of Congress.
B) Find ways your family can contribute to your town and county’s sense of heritage of liberty.
C) Support academic achievement by congratulating every student who excels in this area.
D) Support scientific inquiry among students by attending every Science Fair in your community.
E) Remember your community needs those who see everyone’s achievement as their own and express joy when someone’s goals are met.
F) Be a force for reinforcing behaviors that lead to Liberty and Freedom and ignore behaviors that lead away from them. Celebrity is at the root of most of society’s ills today. Where recognition is given for actions that don’t support our greater freedoms and integrities, it is ruinous.
“In matters of power let no more be heard of the confidence in man but bind them down from mischief by the chains of the constitution.”
“The glow of one warm thought is to me worth more than money.”
