DRILL REPORT: Army Exercise Vibrant Reponse 2009 July 31-August 14

When: July 31-August 14, 2009
Where: Headquartered from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, but no specific locations are given
Who: U.S. Army North (“the Army Service Component and Joint Force Land Component Command for U.S. Northern Command”), the civilian Task Force 51, the 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (Army National Guard unit–South Carolina), the 330th Medical Brigade (Army Reserve unit–Fort Sheridan, Illinois), the 11th Theater Aviation Command, CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force (CCMRF–known as “C-Smurf”)

Note: CBRNE stands for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive. CCMRF is NORTHCOM’s newest addition to help combat “terrorism” and would be available to assist in domestic emergencies. The article below also details how CCMRF can connect and integrate in with FEMA and state and local authorities in time of “emergency”. These units become active October 1.
